Why oh why did I sell my then 6 year old Tacoma with less than 30k miles…I learned how to drive stick on it, moved to college in it, went on so many adventures in 5 months with it. And yet I sold it for…a Nissan Versa.

I really want another Tacoma.

This was my college truck. I still see it out and about and well taken care of.

Kinja'd!!!

I might leave a note next time I see it and see if I can get it back.

Those were good trucks. Was it a stripper model with crank windows and no A/C?

It did have A/C, but no power windows or locks or anything. It didn't need them.

Just how trucks were meant to be!

Did I say that at some point? Shame on me if I did. Obviously your 4Runner is a great example of that, and my Tacoma was far more than just an appliance to me. Maybe I disassociated Toyota's light truck products from their cars.

It was only a 4 cylinder but it had a nice meaty exhaust. It sounded just as gruff as my Dad's Silverado, but it got 23 mpg combined. It was literally the perfect amount of truck with everything you needed and nothing more.

Sounds like a good truck, those small trucks were pretty damn practical.

I'd personally go with 'Murica and 4wd. But they were better than the GM offerings of the time.

From my brief test drives of other midsize trucks, the Tacoma was far and away put together much better than everything else in the class, including the Frontier, Ranger and Dakota (I guess that is pretty much the whole class…), not to mention more efficient. it truly was and is a great truck. I have to buy another one at some point once my Fusion is paid off.

The Ranger would have been better if it got less "soft" in the last years. The new Colorado got soft IMO, they ditched the column shifter and bench seat after all.

Oh no, no it wasn't you at all. It's just a common held belief by a few on here that Toyota=Boring Death Sentence, even above some of the actual most boring cars ever made, for example the mid 2000's Impala's(sans SS) and Taurus.
